NOTE: EARLIER START TIME DUE TO FORECASTED TEMPERATURES!

Join us for a ride from Kenmore to Mukilteo that has become a MUMPS favorite! This week's ride will also be Troy Murison's first mentored ride as he works towards becoming a Cascade Ride Leader.

Route: We'll ride up to Everett and over to Mukilteo, where we'll enjoy the view across the Puget Sound from the patio at the Red Cup Cafe, then head back to the start.

Start time & location: Ride starts promptly at 9:45 am at Log Boom Park in Kenmore, where there are restrooms & water.

Parking: Please do not park in the Log Boom parking lot; use the on-street parking on NE 175thSt. just east of the park.

Safety talk & on time-departure:  Please be at the start and ready to ride at least 15 minutes prior to ride start time, to participate in the pre-ride briefing and safety talk.  Ride rolls out at 9:45. The Club's COVID-19 policy requires all riders be present for pre-ride briefing, and does not allow for riders to join along the route.

Pace: The MUMPS series offers multiple paces. The pace for this ride is Moderate (14-16 mph) on the flats without the benefit or hindrance of wind. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping as necessary. When on multi-use trails we will observe the trail speed limit.

Navigation: The planned route/cue sheet is at the link below. The goal is to stay together via regrouping as necessary, but we won’t be able to wait long for anyone substantially off the pace.  Please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own, as the ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group.

Restrooms:  mi 12.5 at Thornton A Sullivan Park, mi 23.7 at the coffee stop.

Food: Quick (25 min. +/-) stop at Red Cup Cafe mi 23.7

Cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

IMPORTANT: Each ride leader will make their own weather cancellation decisions independently, so one pace group may cancel while another rides, and one group may take a shortcut, while another may not. An "on the roll"  switch to the rain route is possible. This could change your options for moving between pace groups.

Fenders: Please be considerate of other riders' comfort and safety by using full fenders with long mud flaps (preferably 2" to no more than 4" above pavement). if rain is expected or the roads are wet. You may still ride with us without them, but if you are spraying other riders you will need to drop to the back of the group.

Repairs: Be prepared with the equipment and know-how to take care of your own flats and mechanicals, and a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there (ORCA card or someone to call). If you have a problem the group may stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own, but we will not wait for repairs to be completed.

ONLINE REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Please register online at least two hours pre-ride start. If you need to register later than that, you'll need to show proof of online registration at the start.

Hope you can join us!

Hi all,

Thanks for joining Troy and me tomorrow! Two important reminders~

First, as you are likely aware, it's going to be a hot one by PNW standards. Please have plenty of water and, hopefully some electrolytes to keep your muscles happy.

Second, please arrive early so that you are present for the SMART and COVID briefings. Due to the Club's rules, riders not present for both briefings will be unable to join us. We don't want to have to turn you away. It would be much more fun to have you along on the ride.
