Join us for a ride from Heritage Recreation Center on a 37 mile route at Moderate pace (14-16mph)!

For this Memorial day ride we'll be heading West and along the outskirts of JBLM (McChord Field), then via Military Rd to Steilacoom, where we'll stop to take in the view, then as we leave Steilacoom, our big climb (one mile, 4-5% avg) for the day will take us towards the East Gate of JBLM as we take a slightly different way back.

Let's meet near the center of the Heritage Rec Parking lot off 128th at 8:45am for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 9am.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms (porta potty) available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 16.6. There will not be a food stop along this route, so please bring food/nutrition to sustain you.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.

We hope you can join us!

Comments

After pre-riding the ride this morning, I'm making a couple changes, route updated.  There's a repaving project on both 108th and 111th, so we're going to detour around them, we will have to use the sidewalk a little bit.  Also, I'm nixing the return portion around Gravelly Lake, the shoulders are in rough shape and the left turn onto Nyanza is tricky.

I discovered that our midpoint potty stop does not have a working water fountain. You will either want to bring 2 water bottles, or the only water option will be the 7-11 which is shortly before the potty stop.

Thank you for posting that it could be just the thing to give inspiration to someone who needs it! Keep up the great work!
