Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a social ride from Tolt-MacDonald Park (https://kingcounty.gov/services/parks-recreation/parks/parks-and-natural-lands/popular-parks/toltmacdonald.aspx) on a 21 mile route at a Leisurely Pace (10-12 mph) The ride leader will be on a mountain bike. The gravel is generally well packed and firm on most of the route - hybrid bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, and road bikes with wider tires are all appropriate for this ride.
Let's meet at the Parking Lot in the park as noted above at 0930 so you can get your bike ready and be attentive for our required pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10:00 am.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace although I doubt this will be an issue on this ride - our goal will be to regroup frequently within our social distancing requirements. There are many pastoral and river views along the ways - wildlife sightings may necessitate a photo op stop!
Restrooms via portapotties are available at the start but water may not be readily available so please bring water for your ride. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at about mile 10 in Duvall where there is also water available. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Sandy's Espresso in Carnation for those wishing to do right before the end of our ride. if you can't join us, you can get back to the starting location quite easily. Sandy's has outside tables and we may have a chance to remotely observe and supervise the construction going on in downtown Carnation.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
