Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
We resume our shadowing of the ever-popular Getting Ready to Ride (GR2R) series with the final, eighth ride of the series. During the Seattle series, we explore different neighborhoods (often with great views) and take advantage of some of the trails and neighborhood green ways in the city. These will be social, stay-together rides with waits at the top of hills and at all critical turns, along with some photo-op stops. This week, starting from Gas Works Park, we ride to Ballard, then past Fishermen's Terminal, through Discovery Park, around Magnolia and up to and around Queen Anne Hill. This route includes some significant climbing along with some great views. This is an urban ride, but we'll stick to bike lanes and trails where we can.
Let's meet at the east end of Gas Works parking lot at 9:45 a.m. for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10:00 a.m. Check out the map for the meeting point.
Bathrooms are available at the start, and at the mid point in Interbay.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are hazardous riding conditions (eg: ice or snow), the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!

Queen Anne and Magnolia Loop Ride from GWP!
Looks like a Good Ride, with some Moderately Challenging Hills! Thanks for Posting. Would like to have ridden with David Moise again, but his Sunday Ride was Already Full. Looking Forward to Joining You!.
Confirming Steady Pace (12 -14 mph)
Hi James,
I can appreciate your preference to ride with David. He is a great ride leader. However, I want to be sure that you are aware that this will be a steady paced ride (12 -14mph) There was an option for a leisure registration mistakenly added to the posting. It has since been removed. Our pace will be 12 -14mph on the flats. Hills are climbed at your own pace and we will regroup at the top.
See you on Saturday.
Steady Ride on Saturday.
Yes, Frank. I usually ride at Steady Pace! I have in fact taken the Ride Leader Certification Course (Virtual), and have lead 3 Rides Independently! I just had such an Enjoyable Ride last weekend, I figured that I would sign up for another one! I can keep a 12 - 14 MPH Pace on Flat Road (i.e. South Lake Washington Blvd, Burke Gilman, etc.). Still have some "Room For Improvement" on Hills, but - living in Somerset Area of Bellevue, I do plenty of Climbing (not necessarily fast) on my "Solo" rides. I have completed 2 STP's - 2019 (Real Roads) and 2020 (Virtual). If you need someone to be a "Sweep" RIder, I would be totally OK with that! Thanks.
Cancellation
Apologies for a late cancellation, but I'm not feeling well. I otherwise would not cancel so close to the ride.
