Green Valley Out and Back
KEEPING RIDERS SAFE
- Advance registration required for all participants. If you decide not to ride, please click Cancel My Registration below to open space for others. (How to cancel)
- Attendance at the pre-ride safety briefing is required to participate in the ride.
- If you have tested positive for COVID or have been exposed to someone with COVID, follow the quarantine and isolation guidelines. In general, if you have COVID or are displaying COVID symptoms, or if you are sick with the flu or a cold, you should not participate in group rides.
- Carry a face covering in case a business or public transit requires their use.
- Please, no spitting or “snot-rockets” while participating.
- A CPSC certified helmet is required to be worn to participate.
If you are new, please read our newcomer information.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Come join us for a ride on the scenic Green Valley Road in Auburn! We'll meet in the south parking lot of Auburn High School, and enjoy a flat Steady cruise out to Flaming Geyser State Park. We'll retrace our path to get back, with a quick bonus stop at Green Valley Meats on the way back into town. Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early, so that we can get acquainted and go over our safety brief. This will be a mentored ride for Ride Leader Candidate Cynthia Lehmann-Clemens, and we'd love plenty of company!
If you haven't ridden much over the winter, or are coming back to cycling after some time away, this should be a good social ride. The ride runs about 23.5 miles, but there are no real taxing climbs, only a gentle uphill going out, and a gentle downhill all the way back.
There aren't any restrooms available at the start, so plan accordingly. We will have a rest stop at the Flaming Geyser mid-point, about 12 miles into the ride. Steady rain will result in a cancellation of the ride. Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
See you on Sunday!
