Interested in learning about Cascade's High Performance Cycling (HPC) Team?

HPC is intended for cyclists who like to ride fast, hard, far, and climb hills in a non-racing environment. The team is dedicated to supporting strong cyclists who want to improve their skills and fitness while practicing safe group cycling techniques. Although we are not a racing team, some teammates are also members of WSBA racing teams, participate in ultra and randonneuring events, or compete in multisport events. Cascade's High Performance Cycling Team is perfect fit for:

-Riders who are developing fitness and skills and want to ride with folks who are faster and more experienced

-Strong riders who are looking for compatible cycling buddies who regularly do long, scenic, challenging rides

-Racers who want to diversify and ride with folks who regularly do long, scenic, challenging rides

Meet us at promptly at 9:00 AM at the west side of the I-90 bike tunnel in Sam Smith Park for a short discussion about the team. We'll ride counter-clockwise around the south end of Lake Washington, then stop at Coulon Park in Renton. Atter Coulon Park riders have the option to return to Seattle via the I-90 bridge, do a "hot lap" around Mercer Island, or head out to Issaquah for some bonus miles and hills and a coffee stop. Depending on attendance, the Issaquah option may also include a mini paceline/group riding skills clinic. If you plan to do the longer Issaquah option make sure you bring adequate hydration, food and funds in case we stop at Issaquah Coffee.

From the start to Renton we roll at less than 18 mph on the flats. On the optional Mercer Island or the Issaquah portions of the ride, we will break up into speed-based groups that may go faster than 18 mph, with the fastest group on the Mercer Island lap typically exceeding 23 mph. Ride time will vary depending on which option you choose--from 1.5 to 4+ hours.

Showers cancel.
