This will be a relaxed social ride to look for salmon returning to our local Eastside streams of Cottage Lake Creek and Bear Creek. We will look for the returning salmon in the first part of the ride followed by a journey over Redmond Ridge back to our starting location at Perrigo Park. We will have one short rest stop although others are available to the group as needed. There will be a short packed gravel section or two to reach one of the observation locations but riders will have the option of riding or walking their bikes as they deem appropriate. Information on the sighting locations can be found at Salmon Viewing Locations where we will be visiting indicated Sites 1 and 2. For this Sunday afternoon ride, we should be able to meet with the Watertenders docent at the Bear Creek sighting location (#2 on the above reference)
We will meet at the parking lot at Perrigo Park. Restrooms and water are available at the starting area. Riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. We will regroup after climbs and at major intersections. New riders are welcome - please see the Cascade Bicycle Club web page for new riders as noted below.
Please print a cue sheet if you would like one or download the route from the route link provided below. Please arrive early and be ready to ride by 12:45 pm so we can do the SMART safety briefing and depart promptly at 1:00 pm.
In the event of showers or worse the ride leader will not be at the start but will post a cancellation notice in the comments section of this posting by 08:00 on ride day. Please check the comments section before driving to the ride start. Showers during the ride could amend the route.
If you have a Cascade account you may register online up until 11:00 am on the day of the ride by selecting the register button at the top of this posting. If your plans change, you do not need to un-register. You are also welcome to sign in at the start where I will have a waiver sheet.
Mentoring is available. Please contact me if you are interested and do know the route.
