Join us on an adaptation of the classic 5 Cities Eastside Loop. We'll take the Sammamish River Trail, Redmond Connector Trail, and West Lake Sammamish Pkwy to our first climb at Newport, then to downtown Bellevue for coffee at Belle Pastry, followed by a cruise in and around some beautiful neighborhoods (Medina, Clyde Hill, Hunts Point) on the way to the 520 trail, the Kirkland waterfront, the Market/Juanita climb, and back to the start.
Restrooms are available at the start, at mile 9 (Marymoor), a sanican is available at the mile 17.5 regroup (ask), coffee break at mile 27, and a rest stop at Marina Park mile 35.4.
We'll aim for the 14-16 MPH moderate range on the flats, wind and slight gradients (false flats) may affect actual speed, climb at your own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. Because we'll have both brisk and moderate groups on the same route, you can start brisk and finish moderate if you want. The ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group. We will observe the speed limit on the multi-use trails.
The route/cue sheet is at the link below.
Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; we'll pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.
If there's a chance of precipitation, fenders with long mud flaps are recommended, for safety and courtesy. Anywhere the road is wet, if you don't have flaps close to the ground, you'll need to take the initiative to stay behind everyone with better fenders.
Please register in advance on this website to save time at the start. You can also register at the start. Please arrive 15 minutes early for briefing and ride prep so that we can leave on time at 10:00.
In case of cancellation the ride leader will not be at the start and a cancellation notice will be posted in COMMENTS below at least two hours prior to start.
Hope you can join us!
