Join us for a ride from West Fenwick Park on a 10.7 mile route at the Leisurely pace (10-12 mph). That's the pace on level road, however most of the ride is on hills.
Winter brings a variety of sea ducks to Puget Sound. They travel from Alaska and the Arctic to hang out with us for a few months. We'll go on a short ride to see what we can find at the Des Moines Marina and Saltwater State Park. If you have binoculars, bring them along. Ride Leader will bring binoculars; a spotting scope, and a field guide. We can share so everybody gets a look.
Some birds recently spotted on this route are: double crested cormorant; belted kingfisher; great blue heron; horned grebe; western grebe; harlequin duck; American wigeon; common goldeneye; Barrows goldeneye; red breasted merganser; bufflehead; surf scoter. See the link on this page for some pictures.
Let's meet at West Fenwick Park at 9:20 a.m. for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 9:30 a.m.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together.
Restrooms are NOT available at the start (closed for winter). We will stop along the way for restrooms at mile 5.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above. There is no need to unregister if you decide not to ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!

Currently it looks like the weather will be good enough Monday morning. Also posting this ride for Tuesday morning. Hopefully one or both of these mornings will work.
Ride Today - How are the Conditions Between 9:30-11:00?
How are the Conditions expected to be during the Ride, as far as Rain and Wind? Thanks.
Weather today
I just checked the forecast and weather radar. Looks like conditions are good enough to go. We won't be riding very fast and will take some time to walk around at the Des Moines Marina and Saltwater State Park. So consider adding an extra layer today.
Today’s WET-Lands Ride!
Great! Will be there around 009:15 Full Scuba Gear and Santa Hat! Well, maybe not the Santa Hat, but perhaps a Snorkel!
