This Free Group Ride, starts at Old Renton City Hall - Please note that there are other rides starting from the same point, so be sure to check which route/pace you turn up for!  Please pre-register for the ride, as this helps speed up the sign-in process.

** *PLEASE NOTE START TIME of 8:00AM ***

This is a BRISK pace ride: 16 to 18 mph on the flat, with equivalent effort on hill climbs.

This ride starts heading northwards along Lk Washington Blvd towards a warm up climb up Lincoln Ave as we heads towards May Valley.  We will then head towards SE Jones Road for some nice rollers, and climb up the "ever popular" 196th Ave SE hill.  From there, we head out to Black Diamond and the bakery for the lunch stop.

After the lunch stop, the route continues along SE Green Valley Road, which can be a nice cruise as we will be riding through long, country side roads uninterrupted by stop signs or stop lights. Connecting with the Green River trail, we'll then start heading northwards to Renton.

Much of climbing is in the first half of the route, so as the day warms up, we'll be on flat(er) roads.

WEATHER

The daytime temperatures are starting to warm up, and the projected temps will be in the 70s. As we will be riding a good portion out on open roads, with radiant heat from the roads, it can get HOT!  Dress appropriately.

Remember to use SUNSCREEN!!  Nothing ruins your weekend like a burn - did I mention we'll be out on open roads?

Hydration / Food

It is recommended to bring two water bottles so you can remain hydrated during the ride!

Nutrition is also important for these longer rides.  You should bring additional food/energy items that you can easily consume during stops.

Avoid the "Bonk" by staying hydrated and fueled up!!

REST ROOMS / WATER STOPS

The rest stops are: Lake Boren Park (mile 7), Lake Meridian Park (mile 26), Black Diamond Bakery (mile 36), Issac Evans Park (mile 52), and Russell Road Park (mile 60).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

While this will try to be a stay-together ride with regroups after major climbs, we will not be able to stop and wait for mechanical issues, nor will the regroups wait for extended periods of time.  You should be able to individually repair issues and bring spare tube/tools to fix any flats that occur during the ride.  This is not the ride to discover you don't know how to fix a flat!

You should also print out the route, load the route to your GPS/phone, and be prepared to find your way back to the ride start, or safely get yourself back to the start/home should you have an issue, or are dropped by the group. Again, the group will not be stopping for extended mechanical issues, and you may need to proceed on your own.

In the event that there is a Ride Cancellation - a note will be posted to this Ride at least two hours prior to the ride.  Please double check prior to the ride!

Comments

Hey Txomin, will we keep the pace or will it be more akin to strenuous pretending to be brisk?

I will be sticking to the pace, Monica!
