We'll ride out of Bothell Ski & Bike traveling from Kenmore through Lynnwood to Edmonds where we'll have brunch at the Red Twig Cafe (about the 18 mile mark). We'll try to keep our stop to about 30 minutes, but it will depend on the size of our group, the crowd at Red Twig, and food ordered.
If you like climbing or want to improve your climbing this ride is for you. The ride to Edmonds has so a good share of hills sprinkled along the route, but they are pretty moderate with breaks here and there with a fun downhill into Edmonds. Our return from Edmonds includes the climb out via Woodway as well as Innis Arden. Woodway is about one mile and fairly moderate (a good warm up for our brunch legs), while Innis Arden has a significant grade at times (also about a mile in length). We will regroup at the top of each climb! After our workout, we'll have a reprieve on the Interurban Trail and a nice downhill back into Kenmore.
We'll maintain a moderate pace (14-16 mph) on the flats w/o the benefit or hinderance of wind, slower on the uphills, faster on the downhills. This is a stay together ride, regrouping as necessary at the top and bottom of hills so please climb and descend at your own pace.
Riders should bring tools and knowledge to repair flats and please have a backup plan for any mechanical that may occur (Orca card or someone to call). It happens!
Fenders are appreciated unless it is bone dry on the roads. This is for the comfort and safety of your fellow riders as well as yourself. No fenders means you are happy to ride in the back.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to prepare yourself and your bike prior to the safety briefing. Ride starts promptly at 10:00am.
Restrooms and water available at the start. While a lunch stop is planned, it is recommended that riders bring an ample snack and hydration.
Parking: Please park in the spaces on the west side of the lot so that we do not impede Bothell Bike's customers.
Registration:To save time at the start, please register for the ride by clicking on red Register Now button. You do not need a CBC account in order to register, but it does speed up the process. There is no need to unregister should you find you are no longer able to ride.
Cancellation: Ride will be cancelled for steady rain, poor air quality, dangerous road surface such as frost or ice, or below freezing temperatures. Should weather conditions call for a cancellation day of ride, a cancellation notice will be posted two hours prior. If weather is questionable please check Meetup or CBC ride listing before leaving at the start. Cancellations or changes will be posted in the comment section. Leader will not be at start if weather cancels prior to meeting time.
