Training for Spring is a 10-week series intended to keep our legs moving and warm throughout the winter and preparing us for spring training rides. Optional social gatherings are available before and after the rides to meet and connect with Ride Leaders and fellow riders. Our mid-ride rest stops will be brief in an effort to retain body heat. Please arrive 20 minutes before the published start time to ready your bike, check in, and participate in the SMART safety discussion.
The 5th of our 10 week Training for Spring series starts at Mercer Island Park & Ride. We’ll start with a Mercer Island loop, then cross the I-90 floating bridge westbound for a counterclockwise circuit around the south end of Lake Washington, and return to the start up the east shore of the lake . We’ll pause for a rest stop at Seward Park on our way south. An optional post-ride meal will be at the Islander, a few blocks from the Park & Ride.
If you want a cue sheet, please go to the RideWithGPS link below and print one out for yourself. There won't be any available from the ride leaders.
Note: There are no restrooms at the start; please plan accordingly.
Rest Stops: Seward Park MP 18.0

Keeping an eye on the weather
The forecast for Sunday morning is on the worse side of iffy, but the forecast has been wrong before. I’ll keep an eye on conditions and will post a message here by no later than 8am Sunday if the ride is canceled.
weather...
Yeah...no kidding...rain & wind advisory on Saturday, rain & snow on Sunday and cold & sunny on Monday. I think I'm ready for Spring/Summer now :).
RIDE CANCELED
Hello everyone -
While it is relatively calm, but cold, right now at the south end of Lake Washington, the wind is expected to be 15 mph sustained with gusts up to 20 mph during ride time, with a chance of rain/snow mix. WS DOT is on standby to close the I-90 floating bridge westbound if the gusts reach 26 mph. I'm going to cancel the ride to prevent unnecessary discomfort at the least and injury at the worst. If you get out and ride today, anyway, please be careful and have bail out options ready.
I’m riding today
Although the ride is being cancelled, I’m still going to go out and ride a slow steady modified route skipping the floating bridge. Probably get coffee at Tully’s around 9:45 (since I live right across the street from it) then start riding at Mercer Island Park & Ride at ~10am and do CCW MI loop, then down to Renton Landing. Stop at Top Pot to warm up, then back up the East side to the start. Might get lunch afterwards at The Islander or Pagliacci. If you want to join me, send a text 610-316-5868.
