Cascade Bicycle Club Ebike World Record Ride & Expo powered by Rad Power Bikes
PRESS RELEASE: Cascade Bicycle Club and Rad Power Bikes set new record on today's Ebike World Record Ride & Expo
Hundreds of ebike riders came out to help break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for most ebikes on a ride
SEATTLE, Wash. Sept. 15, 2018 — Cascade Bicycle Club today joined forces with Rad Power Bikes and hundreds of local ebike riders to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for most number of ebikes on a single ride.
Even with off and on rain, today's event drew 405 ebikes to break the previous record of 271. The ebike parade made a short 2-mile loop around Seattle's Magnuson Park, also home to Cascade Bicycle Club's headquarters. According to a late 2017 report by the NPD Group, ebike sales have nearly tripled since 2014. The ride was a celebration of the growing ebike market as part of the broader bicycling community.
"We're obviously thrilled to see so many people out here celebrating bicycling today," said Cascade Bicycle Club Executive Director Richard Smith. "Today's show of support is proof that ebikes are a real game changer in how people get around and interact within the bicycling community. The innovative technology of ebikes is truly helping more people leave their cars at home and discover the joys of bicycling."
More than 150 people who do not own their own ebikes were able to participate in the event with loaner ebikes courtesy of Lime and local ebike providers like Rad Power Bikes. Today's free event also included an ebike expo with vendors showcasing a variety of new ebike products and accessories.
Event sponsor Rad Power Bikes was also excited and overwhelmed by the turnout. “It was so much fun riding with everyone today. More and more people have become familiar with ebiking over the last few years, but Seattle riders are truly turning ebikes into a household name,” said Rad Power Bikes Co-Founder and CMO Ty Collins.

About Rad Power Bikes
Rad Power Bikes is North America’s largest and most trusted electric bike company. The company was born in rural California in the summer of 2007 when the founders launched their first ebike prototypes. In 2015, after noticing that it was nearly impossible to find an affordable, high-performing ebike through traditional bicycle shops, they began selling their own models directly to consumers. Since then, they have been at the forefront of sustainable electric vehicle development and accessibility, and in 2017 were named to Forbes and Inc. Magazine’s “30 Under 30” lists, and the Entrepreneur 360™ list. Based in Seattle, Vancouver, and Utrecht, Netherlands, the team of passionate ebike enthusiasts, product designers and entrepreneurs create ebikes that are built for everything and priced for everyone.

Ebike owners, we need YOU to ride with us and make world record history. Any ebike with pedals and electrical motor should qualify!
- For the purposes of the record an electric bicycle, sometimes referred to as a light electric vehicle (LEV), is a bicycle with an attached motor used to assist with pedalling. Some can be propelled by the motor alone if the rider chooses not to pedal, while in others the motor will only run if the rider pedals. Both are acceptable.

"My son is learning how to ride a bike. I realized that he will not know a world without e-bicycles, and I almost want his first bike to be an ebike, so he can start riding hills. That way access for him is available instantly without having to build up to it." — Nam-ho Park, Plain Strategies
