This will be a friendly ride where we stay together as a group as much as possible and encourage each other on the road at all times. We will climb and descend at our own pace and regroup at the tops and bottoms of hills, as needed, to stay together and have fun!
Our tour will take us from the Paine Field Community Park through the Harbor Point neighborhood, the Picnic Point Climb, and the Forest of Olympic View Drive into Edmonds. After stopping in Edmonds for a coffee and restroom break, we'll cruise through scenic Woodway on the way back to Paine Field Community Park.
Start Time & Location: We will meet at the Paine Field Community Park in Everett. Please be there, ready to ride, at 10 AM. We will start with the required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Parking: There is plentiful free parking at the park. Be sure to park away from the baseball field’s foul ball zone.
Restrooms: Restrooms are available at the start and Cafe Lourve (mile 13.8).
Pace: Pace will be a moderate 14-16 mph on the flats, though on multi-use trails we will observe the trail speed limit. We'll climb and descend hills at our own pace, and regroup at the bottoms and tops of hills. Ideally, the goal is to stay together via regrouping as needed.
Navigation: The planned route sheet is at the link labeled Route Map. Please, bring navigation aids in case you need to finish the route on your own, as the ride becomes self-led for those who choose to ride ahead of the group, or for those who drop too far behind for a reasonably timely completion of the ride.
Weather Cancellation: Steady rain, an AQI over 75, temperatures below 37 degrees F, or other unsafe conditions cancels the ride.
Cancellation Process: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
Fenders: Please be considerate of other riders' comfort and safety by using full fenders with long, stable mud flaps (ideally 2" and a maximum of 4" from the ground) if rain is possible or the roads are wet. You may still ride without such long fenders and flaps, but if it's wet you will need to ride at the back of the group (behind all bikes with better fenders.)
Repairs: Be prepared with the equipment and know-how to take care of your own flats and minor mechanicals, and a plan to get back to the start (ORCA card or someone to call.) If you have a flat/mechanical the group will stop briefly to make sure you are OK, though will not wait indefinitely for repairs to be completed.
Thank you for sharing your route, Greg!
Hope you can join us!
