Join us for a Brisk Sunday Ride around the valleys and hills of the Eastside.
Let's meet at the South Kirkland Park and Ride (next to the bus stop). Be there, ready to go at the time listed above -10.00am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
The ride will take us to Carnation and back via the scenic roads of Issaquah, Sammamish, and Redmond. The route is mostly rolling with only a handful of sustained climbs, all in single digit grades. If the weather cooperates the Snoqualmie valley is very picturesque.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup at the top sustained climbs, and otherwise stick together on the flats. Note that this will be a true brisk pace ride, staying within the 16-18mph pace on flats. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start. First restroom stop will be at Tibbets Park in Issaquah, mile 12.4. We will stop along the way for coffee/snacks at Starbucks in Carnation at mile 32.6.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Seriously, be mindful of fenders - it's not fun to ride on wet roads behind fenderless riders particularly through farm areas with all sorts of animal waste on the road.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
