Mt. Baker Climb to Artist Point

Join us for a Mt. Baker Climb ride from Glacier Public Service center on a 48-mile route at Moderate pace (14-16 mph)!  This ride is recommended for experienced climbers. Pace is listed as moderate, because it will be slower on way up, and rapid on descent.  I’ve verified that the road will be open all the way to Artist Point.

The ride will be approximately 48 mi total with ~4600' elevation gain in 22 miles (4% grade). Due to the nature of the climb, the group may get spread out on the way up.  We will regroup at the top (Artist Point). We will stop at the Heather meadows lodge for food on the way down. Restrooms and water at Heather meadows & Artist Point only.  Recommend wider tires or gravel bike. Ride cross posted with Unavita racing team. Carpooling is encouraged - if you have a Forest pass, bring it for parking.

Let's meet at the Glacier Public Service center,10091 Mt. Baker Hwy, Glacier, WA and please be ready to ride at 9am. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing, you won’t be able to ride with the group.

Restrooms aren’t available at the start. Your cell phone may not have signal either. We’ll stop along the way for restrooms/water at the top mi 24 & Heather loge mi 28. We’ll stop for food/snacks at Heather lodge on way down (mi 28). Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Fenders are recommended if the roads are wet.

Note: This ride will roll except possibly in case of significant downpour rain. The Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. We hope you can join us!
