Free Group Ride
Allen Park to Bellingham Training # 3
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Allen Park near Burlington on a 42 mile route at a Steady pace ( 12-14 MPH)! Please Google Map this location, and allow adequate time to drive up. Estimated time from the Seattle- Bellevue region is about 1 hour and 20 minutes. However, riders who live in the Everett and Marysville region will appreciate not having to drive so far!
This is the Third Ride of my planned "Mini-Series" for riders preparing for the RSVP, or other multi-day rides. We will ride along Lake Samish on the way up to Bellingham, with plenty of climbing on this part, and then we will ride back along Chuckanut Drive, with plenty of scenic vistas to experience on our way back! Make sure that your phone is well charged, and your memory space is ample. Lots of opportunities for some spectacular photos on this ride!
Let's meet at the Allen Community Park/Playfields and please be ready to ride at 09:30. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
There is a Portapottie available at the start. We will stop for Lunch at the Haggen grocery store in Bellingham at mile 22. We will have opportunities for other rest stops/ water stops including the Lake Samish boat launch (mile 13), the Shell Station/Mini-mart (mile 15). Fairhaven Park (mile 26), and at Edison Station (mile38).
Bring at least one spare tube and tools to fix a flat. There are portions of the ride that we will be a "long ways from anywhere", so please bring adequate supplies. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Bring plenty of water and additional sunscreen!
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, which may include excess heat, or concerning A.Q.I. levels, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
