Free Group Ride
Arlington to Burlington Loop RSVP Prep Ride
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Haller Park on a 58 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 MPH on the flat).
This is the second ride in a short series of planned rides to help cyclists maintain their endurance conditioning from rides such as the C.T.S. and the COOS rides, or other long distance preparation rides. Also, this is geared towards allowing cyclists to become familiar with portions of the R.S.V.P. route. Please bring adequate water or hydration, and plan to refill at every opportunity! Reapply Sunscreen as well. The stop for Ice Cream and Water at the Snow Goose Produce Farm Stand will be especially welcome as we will be about 2/3 through the ride!
Let's meet at Haller Park in Arlington. and please be ready to ride at 09:15. Please Google Map this location, and anticipate approximately 1 hour drive from Seattle or Bellevue. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at Haller Park. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at the following locations: Big Lake Boat Launch - Mile 17.4 (portapottie only); Skagit Valley Playfields (mile 24.3 - Optional); Nakashima Heritage Barn (mile 51). In addition, We’ll plan to stop at Whidbey Coffee at the Burlington Marketplace for lunch (mile 26.5), and for ice cream at the Snow Goose Produce Farm Stand (mile 38), and a brief stop for water at the Conway Pub (mile 42.8). Additional opportunities may be available for water or restrooms, depending on the conditions and interest of the cyclists.
Please bring more than one spare tube and tools to fix a flat. These rides are long, and be prepared. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, such as excessive heat or elevated A.Q.I. concerns, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
