Event has already happened.
Part paved trails, part easy gravel trails, part roads, a little bit of walking and a whole lot of fun! If you've always wanted to try gravel, this is a great introduction with about 5 miles of the ride on gravel trails suitable for road bikes.
Ride start: Start location is at the Pickering Barn parking lot. Be ready to ride at 10:00. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. Water and restrooms are not available at the start but we'll make a stop around mile 8. Helmets and a functioning bicycle are required. NOTE: If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Route: Come have fun & enjoy this bike ride. This route utilizes the Issaquah Preston and Preston Snoqualmie trails. See the map for the route.
Fenders: If the roads are wet, come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the rider behind you dry, or be the caboose.
Food: There's nowhere to stop for food on this route, so bring snacks or lunch to eat at the turnaround spot.
Mechanical: Be prepared to handle mechanical issues, if you have a problem e.g. flat tire. Bring a spare tube, tools, patch kit, pump and with skills to fix flats. Have a mobile phone and a plan for rescue in case your bike fails.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets will be provided. A Ride With GPS map file and cue sheet are available at the link, below. If you want a cue sheet, please print it and bring it along.
Weather cancellation: If "Showers cancel" conditions exist on ride day, I will not go to the start. In that case, I'll post a ride-canceled message in the Comments block below, not later than two hours prior to start time. Ice, frost/snow or sub-freezing temperatures or excessive heat that would "ride cancel" or make driving to the start location unwise will also ride cancel. If the weather looks iffy, check here before leaving for the ride.
