Georgetown & Duwamish History Ride

Join us for a history ride from Oxbow Park on a 15.1 mile route around Georgetown and parts of Tukwila at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!

We will meet at the Hat 'n' Boots in Oxbow Park (6430 Corson Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134). Parking can be found on adjacent streets. Transit access is from King County Metro Bus routes 60 and 124 each with stops nearby. 

Note: This ride will end at the Georgetown Steam Plant a few blocks away from the start. Riders will have the option to visit inside the historical landmark which is only open to the public on the 2nd Saturday of each month (admission is free).

Please be ready to ride at 9:30 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

There are a total of 9 short stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about the history/geography/etc. for a couple of minutes. We will take a restroom & water break at the Cecil Moses Memorial Park (mile 4.0) and Georgetown Playfield (mile 13.3).

The route is mostly on paved roads and trails with a few short segments on packed gravel.

Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 3 hours (estimated finish after 12:30 pm).

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
