Free Group Ride
Juanita Beach Mercer Island
Event has already happened.
.
Please join us for a ride from Juanita Beach Park on a 39.8 mile route at a moderate pace, 14-16 mph on the flats!
We will ride south through Kirkland and Bellevue and take the I90 bridge to Mercer Island. After looping the island, we will stop for coffee at Starbucks at mile 25. We will return through Bellevue and then 116th. We will ride a short unpaved section of the Eastrail on the return.
Let's meet at the Juanita beach Park and please be ready to ride at 10:00AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together and regroup frequenctly. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. There will be no other restroom or water break until the coffee stop on Mercer Island, and then no further stop until the end. The weather forecast looks warm, so bring plenty of water.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
