TREATS: Pine Lake Park to Fall City to Carnation with Tolt Hill
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Come join us for a relaxed, unhurried 30-mile scenic but somewhat hilly ride from Sammamish, down a thrilling descent to Fall City, and through the tranquil Snoqualmie Valley to Carnation for a 30-minute lunch at Starbucks / Carnation Market. On the return we’ll burn off calories climbing Tolt Hill and Duthie Hill, and then circle Beaver Lake.
Note: This route includes two long climbs (Tolt Hill at 1.3 miles / 439 ft. elevation and Duthie Hill at 1.5 miles / 333 ft.). We will regroup at the tops of each. We will also be riding for a mile on State Route 202 (Redmond-Fall City Road) which has fast truck traffic and a narrow but paved shoulder.
Note: The pace for TREATS rides has historically been Steady (12-14 MPH on flat terrain). This one will be at the lower end of the Moderate pace of 14-16 MPH.
We will start at Pine Lake Park. The entrance is on 228th Ave. SE at SE 23rd Pl. The parking lot is about 0.1 mile inside the park. There are bathrooms available at the start, at Mile 9 in Fall City, and at lunch at Mile 17.
Please be ready to ride at 10 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group.
This is a Moderate pace ride, 14-16 mph on the flats in the absence of wind. We will climb and descend hills with each rider at their own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at the top of each long hill. We won’t be able to wait long for anyone substantially off the pace. Please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Be prepared with the equipment (including a spare tube) and knowledge to take care of your own flats and mechanicals, and a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there. If you have a problem the group will stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own, but we may not be able to wait for repairs to be completed.
Steady rain cancels. If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
