Join us for a challenging night ride of gravel bikes/XC Hardtail mountain bikes on a very hilly 18.1 mile route through the scenic trails of Tolt Pipeline, Tolt Powerline, Redmond Watershed, and Sammamish River trails. We meet and start at the Porta Potties in front of the Northshore Athletic Field large gravel parking lot which is right off the Sammamish River trail. We will start at 5:30pm with a required safety brief, and then roll when that is completed. This ride should take around 2 to 3 hours depending on the group.
This 18.1 mile gravel/XC bike ride offers a variety of trails ranging from paved trails along a river, wide gravel trails along farmlands, and forested wide single track. Starting at Northshore Athletic Field gravel parking lot: 14735 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA 98072. We start facing the Sammamish River trail and take a left onto the trail and ride pavement alongside the scenic river for about 3.4 miles. Next, we hang a left off the trail which leads us to the nice wide gravel Tolt Powerline trails. The Tolt Powerline trails leads us to some nice paved farmland roads and then into the backside of the Redmond Watershed trails. The Redmond Watershed trails are forested wide single track trails which lead us into the Tolt Pipeline trails. The Tolt Pipeline trails are wide gravel trails alongside beautifully maintained horse ranches. The Tolt Pipeline trail has long up hills and fast downhills. Lastly, we ride a very challenging steep long gravel down hill back to the cars.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. This is a Moderate Paced ride of 14-16 MPH but hills will cause pace to be slower or faster. The pace is designated Moderate Level to assume the grunt level rating that is required to ride gravel and single track trails vs pavement. Gravel and single track trails will require more effort at a slower pace. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH). Average overall pace will be about 7mph because of terrain.
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop to take pictures when there are opportunities for a group picture.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Bring two charged lights!
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
