Free Group Ride
North Lake Loop w/ Queen Bee Cafe
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Blyth Park in Bothell around the north end of Lake Washington with a coffee/snack stop at Queen Bee Cafe in Kirkland. The ride will include time on the Burke Gilman and 520 trails as well as roads around UW and through Kirkland and includes a few hills to challenge you and burn those pastry calories. This will also be ride leader candidate, Hanoch Yeung's, second mentored ride. Please come out and support Hanoch on becoming a Cascade Ride Leader.
PACE: Pace is moderate (14-16 mph) on the flats w/o benefit or hindrance of wind, riders should be comfortable riding consistently at 16 mph. Climbing and descending is at rider's pace with regrouping at the top and bottom of hills. However, riders significantly off group pace should be prepared to complete the ride solo. It is recommended that riders have the route on their fully charged phone or GPS device, or print a copy of the cuesheet.
FOOD: While a food stop is planned, it is highly recommended that riders carry ample hydration and a snack in case we are delayed.
FENDERS: For the safety and comfort of your fellow riders as well as yourself, long fenders with buddy flaps that extend to within a few inches of the road are appreciated if roads are damp or rain is possible. If you are spraying fellow riders, you will be asked to ride in the back of the group.
MECHANICALS: Riders should bring tools & knowledge to repair flats/minor mechanicals and be prepared to complete the ride on your own should your bike require repair. The group will stop briefly to ensure you are okay, but will not wait for repairs to be complete. Please have a backup plan (someone to call or an ORCA card) if your body or bike will not get you to the finish.
RIDE START & TIME: Please be at Blythe Park ready to ride by 10:00 when we'll start with a required safety briefing, rolling out immediately after. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
RESTROOMS: Restrooms at Blyth may or may not be open. We'll have additional restrooms along the Burke Gilman trail and at our food stop at mile 20. Please plan accordingly.
REGISTRATION: Registration IS REQUIRED for the ride. Click on red Register Now button at the top. Please unregister if you decide not to ride so that another may rider may join the ride.
CANCELLATION: Ride will be cancelled for steady rain or other hazardous road or weather conditions. Should conditions call for a cancellation day of ride, a cancellation notice will be posted in comments below at least two hours prior. If conditions are questionable please check here before leaving for the start. Leader will not be at start if ride is canceled 2+ hours prior to ride start.
ROUTE: Ride With GPS route link is below. Please print a cuesheet if you want one.
We hope you can join us!
