North End Rides before Dark (Vigorous)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Bring a headlight and tail light as we will be ending in the dark!
Join us for this week's North End Rides before Dark ride from the Lynnwood Transit Center. This week's route will be A Couple of Lakes. This clockwise loop starts north toward Paine Field before heading east to Silver Lake then south past Martha Lake on the way back to the transit center. The days are shorter now so we will be ending in the dark - please bring both front and rear lights and extra layers as it is cooling off in the evenings.
Please meet in Lot A (on the east side of 46th) and be ready to ride at 6:00 pm. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that is done. If you miss the safety briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group. A picture of the transit center showing where to meet is linked below.
There are no restrooms or water at the start. There is a public restroom about a half mile west of the transit center at Scriber Lake Park should you need it prior to arriving for our safety briefing/ride start.
We will attempt to keep the stated pace on the flats (a little higher on the slight downhills and a little slower on the slight uphills). Riders should take steeper climbs and descents at their own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at safe points after steeper sections of the route. However, any rider who continues to cause delays or is unable to keep pace with the group will be asked to finish the ride on their own or drop back to another pace group if available.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order. Also required are a properly fitting helmet, working tail light, and a headlight as we may be getting back around sunset. It is recommended to bring water (as there is none at the start), nutrition, and a jacket.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat or other minor mechanical issues, and make sure you know how to use them (see the YouTube video in the linked below on fixing flats). We will wait a short period of time if you can fix a mechanical issue quickly; however, we will have to keep the group moving if the repair will take longer than a few minutes so make sure you have the route and a cell phone to arrange a ride home if necessary.
Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion, there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, or there are any other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
