Sixty Acres - Sammamish Loop (Mentored Ride!) - Steady Pace
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Sixty Acres South Parking lot on a 32 mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 MPH on the flats)!
This will be the second mentored ride for Louisa Clayton. We will be rolling from Sixty Acres through Redmond and down along the west side of Lake Sammamish, stopping for coffee and a little social time at Issaquah Coffee Company. We will head back along the eastside of Lake Sammamish, first on the trail then along East Lake Sammamish Parkway and continue back to the 'barn' through Redmond via the Sammamish River Trail.
Let's meet at the Sixty Acres South parking lot (see attached PDF map for exact location). Please be ready to ride at 9:00 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently.
Port-a-potties are available at the start, but water is not. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Issaquah Coffee Company at mile 17 or so.
Pace: Riders should be able to sustain the appropriate pace which is 12-14 on the flats with no wind. If maintaining the pace is difficult for a rider, we will do our best to accommodate, but in an extreme case, the rider may have to continue the ride on their own.
Mechanicals issues: Riders should know how to change a flat, or deal with other minor mechanical issues and carry appropriate tools. Riders must have a backup plan if roadside repairs are not sufficient. Riders should have a charged cell phone to call for a pick-up or other means to find their way home.
Navigation and Cue Sheets: It's important to have navigation in event of separation due to flats or other situations. Please download the route file into a GPS device for navigation. If a GPS device is not available, bring a cue sheet. Cue sheets are not available at the start.
Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
