Ride from Redmond to Bellingham Training Series #3
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Allen, Washington on a 43-mile route at steady pace at 12-14 MPH !
This is the 3rd and (likely) final ride in this short series of rides to allow riders to become familiar with the Redmond to Bellingham and Back (R2B2) route, and maintain their distance training. You are welcome to join even if you didn't do the previous rides in this series.
We will be climbing a bit on the northbound portion, following the R2B2 route, and then up to Bellingham. On the southbound portion, we will be riding on Chuckanut Drive, which has spectacular views of the Salish Sea! There are several pull out locations along this, which will allow for some scenic photo options. Thanks for your interest and participation in these rides!
Let's meet at the Allen Park, north and west of Burlington, and please be ready to ride at 09:00 a.m.. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. The park has a Porta-potty, a grocery store is nearby. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 15, 26 and 30. (Optional at mile 35) . (OPTIONAL) We’ll also stop for Lunch at the Haggens grocery in Fairhaven at mile 21.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
