Olallie Trail & Palouse to Cascades Trail Mountain Bike Ride
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Rattlesnake Lake to the first lookout on the Olallie Trail, followed by scenic riding on the Palouse to Cascades Trail. The Olallie Trail is steep, gaining about 400' per mile with grades up to 15%-20%.
We will meet in the first parking lot at Rattlesnake Lake (the one outside the gates) and located on the right. There is spotty cell reception at the starting point for the ride.
The ride is best done on a mountain bike. We will aim for the equivalent effort of a high moderate pace on a road ride though we will of course be going slower than this given the surface and terrain. The views on this ride are very nice.
As we will be off the beaten path with no access for cars for most of the ride, come prepared to be able to fix a flat tire or a mechanical issue, bring headlights or bike lights in case of any issues (otherwise we should be back at our cars long before dark), and bring along water and a snack. Also realize that if you have a major bike issue, you might need to walk several miles with your bike to get back to your car.
Restrooms are available at the start. A Discover Pass is required for parking at Rattlesnake Lake.
Note: If there is a significant possibility of rain or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
