Sunday Morning North Lake Lap
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join a 34-mile ride around the north end of Lake Washington via King County's excellent multiuse trail system. This is a great opportunity to experience one of Seattle's cycling "trade routes."
We start from Wayne Park and roll at a moderate pace, 14-16mph on the flats. Most of this route is on multiuse trails with a speed limit of 15mph. Although mostly flat, there is hilly and rolling terrain between Redmond and the east side of the 520 bridge. We'll stop to regroup as needed on the tops of the hills. We'll coast or soft-pedal after descents until the group reforms.
Aside from regrouping as needed on hills, there are no planned stops. Be prepared to drink and snack while you riding.
Meet on the Burke Gilman Trail on the west side of the Wayne Park parking lot. Be ready to ride at 9:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
Restrooms are available at Blyth Park on the east side of the Burke Gilman Tunnel which is at the east end of the Wayne Park parking lot.
There is plenty of parking at Wayne Park and Red Brick Road Park which adjacent to Wayne Park on the north side of the Burke Gilman Trail.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
