TREATS – Monroe / Lake Roesiger / Snohomish
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for social ride, on mostly quiet, rural roads, from Monroe, around beautiful Lake Roesiger, returning via Machias, the Centennial Trail, and Snohomish. Meet in Monroe at Lewis Street Park (near the Skykomish River bridge on SR 203 and intersection with Sumac Drive).
Most of our hills will be during the first half of the ride as we climb out of the scenic Skykomish River Valley en route to lovely Lake Roesiger, where we will enjoy our first rest stop at the Lake Roesiger Store. Continuing our ride around the lake, we will begin our descent to the Machias Trailhead, where we will join the Centennial Trail. After our picnic lunch at Machias, we will continue south along the Centennial Trail until its terminus in Snohomish. A mostly flat 9 miles will complete our loop back to Lewis Street Park. Many thanks to Chris N for sharing this scenic route!
Pace will be Steady (12-14 MPH). Our goal will be to stay together. We’ll climb and descend hills at our own pace and regroup if we get separated. We will not exceed posted speed limits on the Centennial Trail. Electric-assist bikes are welcome.
Restrooms will be available at the start. We’ll stop at the Lake Roesiger Store (Mile 14) where snacks and portable restrooms are available. Our lunch break will be at Machias, mile 27. Restrooms and picnic facilities are available here, but no food for purchase, so please bring a picnic lunch. (If you're wondering why we're not stopping at Snohomish Bakery for lunch, sadly they are closed on Tuesdays, as well as most other establishments in the area). Additional restrooms will be available along the Centennial Trail.
Please be ready to ride at 10:00 AM when we will do the safety briefing and get on the road. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: If you are not present and ready when we start the safety briefing, you will not be allowed to participate.
As always, bring a spare tube, tools, and knowledge to fix a flat. Since weather forecast is predicting warm sunny weather, be sure to bring two water bottles. Many restaurants are closed on Tuesdays, so be prepared with snacks and picnic lunch.
If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the comments section below by 7 am on ride day and Ride Leader(s) may not be at the start location. It is always wise to check the comments before you drive to the start of a ride. Rain during the ride could modify the route.
Ride with GPS route map and cue sheet are at the link, below. If you want a cue sheet, please print it.
We hope you can join us!
