Pierce County Trails Day: Trails as Transportation - Tacoma to Gig Harbor

To celebrate Forever Green Trails' Pierce Country Trails Day, we will use  a small portion of Scott Pierson Trail (the shared use trail on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge) and part of Cushman Trail to get from Tacoma to Gig Harbor. Come ride with us and see how well these two wonderful places are connected by bike trails! 

We'll meet at the park and ride next to War Memorial Park We'll start with introductions and a brief safety talk. Please be at the start, ready to ride, at 10am. 

On-line registration required.  Participants do not need to be a member of Cascade Bicycle Club to register, but must create an account if they do not already have one.  

This ride is one way but it will be followed by another ride returning back to Narrows Park and Ride (and it was proceeded by an earlier ride coming from Gig Harbor) Please register for both rides if you wish to do both portions. You may also want to try taking your bike and yourself back to the start by bus, which will pick you up at our ride end. 

Pace of this ride is Leisurely and the miles per hour  (mph) listed is not an average, but rather the speed we travel on flat terrain without wind. We will be faster on downhills and slower on uphills. Every rider will take hills at their own pace and we will regroup after them and before turns.

Helmets are required. Other items to bring: a charged cell phone, id, cash and/or credit card, water, a small snack, a face covering, hand sanitizer, kleenex, a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the ride will be canceled at least two hours prior to the start and the Ride Leader will not be at the start location. Cancelation notice will be on the ride posting here and will also be emailed to registered riders.
