Free Group Ride
PenMet Parks Bike Bash: Sehmel Park - Gig Harbor Loop
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
PenMet Parks very first Bike Bash will be a celebration of all things cycling - the party will include vendors, a bike swap, a bike rodeo and traffic garden for kids, food trucks, music and free group rides, like this one - a fun, scenic, hilly loop that starts and ends at the party at Sehmel Park.
We'll meet in front of the park pavilion and will split into pace groups of up to 15 riders per group. You must register for this ride (and sign the on-line waiver). You do not need to be a member of Cascade Bicycle Club to register for the ride, but you will need to create an account if you do not have one. We'll start with introductions and a safety talk. Please be at the start, ready to ride, by 11am.

Paces offered are Steady, Moderate and Brisk - speeds associated with these paces refer to flat terrain with no wind (we will go faster or slower than these numbers depending on grade and wind conditions) If you are new to Cascade Free Group Rides - WELCOME - please click on "read our newcomer information" link above for more information.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and will regroup after hills and before turns.
Ride Leaders may decide to cut out the "out and back" section of this ride, which will reduce the mileage to 21.3 and the elevation to 1,659'. Routes are linked below. Riders can download them or print cue sheets from them if they wish (we will not be providing cue sheets).
Helmets are required. Other things to bring: a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, a charged cell phone, ID, cash and/ or credit card, water, a small snack, a face covering, kleenex, hand sanitizer. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the ride will be canceled at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
