TREATS: South Lake Loop and Mercer Island

Join us for a ride from Newcastle Beach Park on a 34 mile route at steady pace (12-14 mph on flat terrain).

We will cycle around Mercer Island, enjoying the twisting turning road and the proceed across I90 to Seattle, turn south and ride around the south end of Lake Washington returning to the start.

Let's meet at Newcastle Beach Park and please be ready to ride at 10 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally.  We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).  Bring anything necessary to fix a flat and be prepared to handle independently any minor mechanical issues such as flat tire.  Also, bring a cuesheet or other navigational aid so you can ride at your own pace by yourself if you cannot keep the group pace.  

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at about mile 12.   We’ll also stop for coffee break at Both Ways Cafe at mile 19.  Bring a sandwich if you prefer.  

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
