Woodinville Social Ride for Coffee (Note: 10:00am Start)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride starting in Woodinville on an approximately 42-mile route at a Steady pace (12-14 mph on the flats.) This is a route that merges hill climbing with some fairly flat terrain using bike trails, bike lanes and largely quiet neighborhood streets.
This week we will ride through Kirkland and across the SR-520 bridge to Madison Park in Seattle. We will return via the University of Washington with a slight detour to "The Quad" on campus to see if the cherry trees are in bloom (mile 25).
We will have a short rest stop at Kirkland Marina at mile 9. We will have a second 25-minute combined coffee and rest stop in the Madison Park community at approximately mile 21. We’ll also have a rest stop, if needed, at Matthews Beach Park at mile 31.
Let's meet at Woodinville’s Wilmot Gateway Park by the tables under the pergolas in the park at 10:00 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group.
Restrooms and water are available at the start and at the rest stops. Please bring any snacks you may want to have during the ride. Please bring suitable funds if you plan to purchase food or drink at our coffee/rest stop.
We will climb and descend the major hills at our own pace and will regroup at the tops as needed.
This ride will be at a Steady pace, which means that to keep up with the group you must be able to maintain a speed of 12-14 MPH for more than four hours on flat terrain with no tailwind. A downloadable ride map and cue sheet are at the link below. If you don’t have a GPS unit or cell phone guidance, please print a cue sheet so you can navigate the route on your own if you need to.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
If you are driving to the start, please consider adding a little extra time for your travels as youth athletic activities have started recently and parking might have to be a little farther away than what you have experienced over the last couple of months.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
