We'll meet at the East Puyallup Trailhead at 11am for pre-ride introductions and safety brief.
Pace is steady - expecting riders to be able to sustain a speed of 12 to 14 miles per hour on flat, windless terrain for about four hours. We will take hills at our own paces and regroup after hills / before turns if we get spread out. We will obey posted speed limits on the trail. Foothills trail is very popular with all sorts of users, especially on sunny week-end days - we will slow or stop to courteously share the trail and pass safely, as needed.
Parking and restrooms are available at the start. Restrooms are available along the trail in Orting and at South Prairie, We will pass these both coming and going and will stop briefly as needed. (Miles 7.3 and 33.4 for Orting, Miles 15 and 26, South Prairie) We'll stop at the midpoint in Buckley and will stay there long enough for riders to purchase something at Wally's Diner (ice cream, milkshakes and fries are available) but not planning to stay long enough to buy and consume full meals. There is also public washroom and a park next to Wally's. Ride ends near Farm 12 in Puyallup.
Helmets are required. Other things to bring: ID, cash and/or credit card, a charged cell phone, supplies to fix a flat or other minor mechanical, water and a small snack. Lights on your bike are recommended but not required if you have reflectors. Out of consideration for others, please have full fenders if roads are wet - you may be asked to ride at the back if you do not have fenders. You should also have a face covering - hand sanitzer and kleenex are nice to have too!
Weather Cancellations: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel at least two hours prior to the start and will not be at the start location.
