Eastside Hills #6
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Eastside Hills is back in 2022 with more challenging hilly rides! Riding hills is a great way to get back in shape for the new year, and hills help us keep warm in the cold weather.
Join us for a ride from Kirkland Transit Center on a 53-mile route at Vigorous pace (18-20 mph on the flats.)
This week's route goes from Kirkland to the Samammish Plateau, around Beaver Lake, then back through Newcastle and Bellevue. Some of the hills we get to ride include Sahalee Way, Black Nugget, Montreux, Kamber Road, and others.
Let's meet at the Kirkland Transit Center between the library and the baseball field. Please be ready to ride at 10 a.m. Please note the new start time. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup at the top of sustained climbs. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 mph.)
Restrooms are available at the start. There is four hours of free parking at the public parking garage under the Kirkland Library. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water/food at mile point 29 at the Issaquah Safeway.
Bring a spare tube (or two) and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If there is steady rain or hazardous riding conditions, such as snowy or icy roads, or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. During the ride we will tolerate light rain or brief showers, but if we encounter heavy rain we may return early.
We hope you can join us!
