Event has already happened.
FRUMPS: Friday Rides for Underemployed Merry Pedalers.
Join us for an unhurried 36-mile ride starting on the Mercer Island Lid. Restrooms are available at the start. We’ll have restroom stops at Mile 8 and Mile 14, then lunch at the Issaquah Safeway / Starbucks at Mile 23. Then it’s back to Mercer Island via Newport Way and the I-90 Trail.
Pace is Steady - expecting riders to be able to sustain a speed of 12 - 14 MPH on flat, windless terrain for three to four hours. This is a stay-together ride. However, riders may sometimes either fall behind or shoot ahead on hills. These riders will be expected to re-group after their "break-away" or "fall-behind." Please send a message if you are unsure if this is a good ride for you or if you have any other questions.
Let’s meet at Aubrey Davis Park on Mercer Island near the intersection of SE 22nd St. and 70th Ave SE. Please be ready to ride at 10 AM when we will do the safety briefing and get on the road. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are not present and ready at 10 AM when we start the safety briefing, you will not be allowed to participate.
Bring water, snacks, spare tube, tools, patch kit, and skills to fix flats. Have a plan for rescue if your bike fails. We will try to wait for mechanical breakdowns but may not be able to wait for everything. Make sure you know the way back to the starting point in case you get separated from the group. See the URL below -- you can print and / or download the map-cue sheet. It will not be handed out at the start.
Please have a rear fender if the roads are wet or you may be asked to ride at the back of the group.
If it’s not raining at the start, and it’s not apparent we’ll get soaked, we'll proceed with the ride. If it starts to rain during the ride, we may shorten the route. If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leaders will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start, and Ride Leaders may not be at the start location. It is always wise to check the Comments section before you drive to the start of a ride.
We hope you can join us!
