Great Scott! Northgate Ramble

Explore Seattle's back streets at a comfortable pace with a sociable crowd. On Thursday, a regular bunch of old friends and a curious bunch of new friends ride as far as evening light permits, venturing places seldom seen via routes seldom taken. We won't go looking for a challenge (we'll never ride the Counterbalance), but neither do we avoid one; we'll gradually top a hill or two and savor the view along the way. Bring money for dinner afterward. Heavy rain means we eat early.

This Week's Ride

This week's short ride will take us north through the Wallingford, Green Lake and North Seattle neighborhoods to visit the newly opened John Lewis Memorial Bridge and Northgate Station, returning via Maple Leaf. There is a route map link below for those who want, or just show up and follow the leader(s). We'll climb some hills and ride about 10.5 miles, with about 610 ft. of elevation gain. We hope you can join us after the ride at the Nickerson Street Saloon for a last visit there before they close at the end of this month.

For Every Ride...

Let's meet at Gas Works Park and please be ready to ride at 5:00. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group. Carry water, a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Sunset is mighty early, so you will need front and rear lights. Always bring your sense of humor and patience; this is a Great Scott ride:-)

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
