Free Group Ride
Fall City to Rattlesnake Lake (Gravel)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride from Fall City, WA on a 37.2 mile route at Steady 12-14 mph pace on packed gravel!
Let's meet at Fall City Community Park and please be ready to ride at 9:30 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.
A porta-potty is available at the start. We will stop at Centennial Fields Park for restrooms/water at miles 8.8 and return at 28.8. There are also restrooms and water at the turn around point, Cedar River Watershed Education Center @ Rattlesnake Lake. The center has water drums that are fun to watch and listen to.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup occasionally. The pace will be adjusted for gravel and elevation. My pace will be ~10-12 mph on the gentle gravel grade and ~8 mph the last 5 miles to Rattlesnake Lake, where the grade increases. On the return, we can go faster on the downhill.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the gravel or road is wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
Special Needs for this Ride:
- A gravel, touring, mountain, cross, or hybrid bike (able to ride on gravel)
- Rattlesnake Lake is in the mountains. The temperature can drop as we approach the Rattlesnake Lake. Bring layered clothing for varied temperatures.
Good to Know for the Ride:
- When the gravel trail ends in Snoqualmie, we will need to push our bikes up about 10 steep steps. Then, back down the steps on the return.
- After the roundabout in Snoqualmie (at mile 6.4), the Mill Pond road is scraped and rough for 1.5 miles as of July 23rd. We will take this section slow. The same will occur on our way back. For more details as to the route, see the below link to the route.
- This is a social ride and riding will including stopping to enjoy bridges and nature at times.
We hope you can join us!
