Eastside Hills #12

Join us for a ride from Hidden Valley Park on a 66.2 mile route at Vigorous pace of 18-20MPH (on flats).

The Eastside Hills series continues with ride #12. This one is actually on the east side. Starting from Hidden Valley we will make our way East through Pike's Peak, Briddle Trails, Redmond and Marymoor Park. Continuing East we will go over Novelty Hill, Snoqualmie Valley Rd till we hit the first stop at Safeway Duvall. We will go further east on Cherry Valley Rd, Kelly Rd and take a detour around Lake Joy. From Lake Joy to Carnation there is 4 mile section of hardpack gravel, perfectly fine for road bikes. On the return from Carnation we will climb two more hills: Tolt and Duthie, before hitting the second food stop at QFC Issaquah. Finally we will do a gentle climb on Newport before returning to downtown Bellevue via Lake Hills Connector.

Let's meet at the Hidden Valley Park (next to the Boys and Girls Club) and please be ready to ride at 9:00am (note one hour later start than usual). We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup after sustained climbs. The proposed regroup points are marked on the RWGPS map. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water/food at miles 22.5 (Duvall Safeway) and 50 (Issaquah QFC).

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
