Squalicum-Fraser Valley Rambler (Bellingham)

Join us for an early morning ride starting from Glen Echo Garden on a 21.6 mile route at a moderate speed (14-16 mph on flats) that explores the back roads of Squalicum Valley and Fraser Valley in eastern Whatcom County. Expect to see old dairy farms, views of Mount Baker and the Twin Sisters (weather permitting), and plenty of snapshots of quiet country life from the saddle.

Let's meet at Glen Echo Garden off the Mt Baker Highway and please be ready to ride at 7:45 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together. 

Note: that although most of the route is on quiet back roads, riders will be using the shoulder of Mt Baker Highway for two short sections and making left turns across approaching traffic to cross the major thoroughfare. It is important to ride single file and follow the directions of the Ride Leader during the Mt Baker Highway crossings. 

A porta-potty and clean water are available at the ride start. This will be the only chance for a restroom break as this ride is relatively short and is meant to be a quick morning warm up. 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
