Gas Works Park to Alki

Join us for a ride from Gas Works Park on a 30 mile route (round trip)  at a steady pace of 12 -14 mph!

We'll go over the Fremont Bridge follow the ship canal trail/ stay on the street to the Seattle waterfront and follow Elliott Bay around to Alki.  The ride distance is based primarily on the location of Starbucks on Alki.  We'll take a bit of a rest before starting back to Gasworks.  This should be a fun, casual recreational ride with time to enjoy the sights.

Let's meet at Gas Works Park and please be ready to ride at 9:00 AM.  We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that is done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend any hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together at a steady pace (12 - 14 mph).  We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use trail/path to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).  On the trail, we will tend to defer to slower pedestrians or families and children, ie. pass as it is safe and opportunistic.  

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms and there will be restrooms and time for coffee when we arrive at our Alki destination.  It should be a great day to have a fun bike ride.  

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. (Not likely.)

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
