Puyallup-Spanaway Lake

Join us for a ride from Puyallup on a 32 mile route at moderate pace (14-16mph)!  Park either in the trailhead parking lot (some risk involved) or the nearby gravel parking across from Farm 12 restaurant (maybe less risky).

We'll ride briefly on the Foothills Trail before traveling through downtown Puyallup before we begin a steady climb out of the valley up to the Summit area.  We then travel some back roads passing thru PLU and Spanaway Park before reaching our midpoint stop.  Our adventure continues as we make our way back with a hidden trail behind the county Sewer & Traffic Operations building, a closed road on the Pierce College campus, a brief foray onto gravel, another trail that connects to nothing, and a final short climb through a neighborhood followed by a twisty steep downhill and back to the start.

Let's meet at the Foothills Trail East Puyallup Trailhead and please be ready to ride at 9:20am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  If you miss the briefing you will not be able to ride with the group.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 15.7 which is also a coffee stop at Starbucks.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
