Free Group Ride
FRIDAY RIDERS: Airport to Airport
Event has already happened.
Join us as we explore not just one but two airports and learn a little about aviation history in Snohomish County!
We'll start at the now-closed Martha Lake Airport, where we'll see the last traces of the small private airfield that was turned into a park in 2010. Then we'll take streets (some busy, but with a bike lane) to Paine Field, which now offers commercial service to many West Coast cities.
Let's meet at Martha Lake Airport Park at 9:50 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10am.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently.
Porta-potty is available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 11, Paine Field. We’ll also stop at Thornton A. Sullivan Park at mile 16 for our picnic lunch/snack.
Bring a lunch/snack, spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
If it's raining or extremely windy that day, I'll post a cancellation notice here by 8:00 am. If it looks like intermittent rain showers, I'll be at the ride start and will consult the Dark Sky app to make my decision about riding or not. Feel free to call or text me at 425-238-4045 for updates that morning.
We hope you can join us!
