Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from Renton on a 35 mile route at a steady pace between 12-14 mph!
This route ventures from Renton up Lake Washington towards Bellevue. We will then cut onto Mercer Island and loop the island in a clockwise direction. After looping the island we will stop at Einstein Bagels for a refreshment. Then we will head back out and across the I-90 bridge to take Lake Washington boulevard South back to Renton. Come out to have some good company, roll along streets and bike paths, and hopefully get a little bit of good weather too!
Let's meet at the Renton Community Center Parking Lot by the Baseball Field at 9:50 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10am. Everyone must attend the pre-ride briefing in order to join the group for the ride so please show up with time to be ready to roll.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together however on longer climbs we will regroup at the top of the hill.
Restrooms are not available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 2.3 Gene Coulon Park (if needed by group) and 28 Seward Park (if needed by group). We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Einstein Bagels at mile 21.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
