A Steady Ride from Renton to Madison Park

Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.

We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.

This is a very scenic 29-mile ride at a relaxed and steady pace along Lake Washington Blvd from downtown Renton to Madison Park's Starbucks for coffee and pastries. This ride is especially geared towards new or beginning level riders who would like to learn about safe group riding skills and also riding a couple of short and moderate hills. This is a stay together ride meaning we will all start and finish together.  The ride will take about 3 hours with a 15-minute mid-point break at Madison Park.  Please arrive 15 minutes before start time so that we can roll out on time at 10:00 a.m.

Stops: Seward Park - mile 7.0 (brief restroom stop) and mid-point coffee stop for 20 minutes at Madison Park's Starbucks - mile 15.0 

"Steady Pace" is 12-14 mph on flat surface without any headwind. We will go slower on hills and with a headwind and faster going downhill.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
