Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from Renton Memorial Stadium, 405 Logan Ave N. Renton on a 52.5 mile route at 14-16 mph for the full lake Washington Loop and Gas Works Park!
This is a beautiful scenic ride going by the Renton airport, along Rainier Ave S, to Seward Park (rest stop #1), beautiful lake view along Lake Washington Blvd S through the Aboretum Park (please keep at posted speed 10mph if possible) towards the UW, heading north onto Burke Gilman Trail to Gas Works Park for a quick view of Lake Union (rest stop #2), then back to Burke Gilman Trail all the way to Log Boom (lunch/rest stop #3).
Back onto Burke Gilman Trail to Red Brick Road and to 96th Ave NE towards Old Market St Trail for the gorgeous view of Juanita Bay Park. Continue up the hill on Market St then down to Kirkland Marina Park (rest stop #4). If we are lucky, there will be some beautiful music in the park. Optionally, we can go get coffee at Starbucks 2 blocks away afterwards.
Continue on Lake Washington Blvd NE to 112th Ave NE heading towards Bellevue. Then head towards 118th Ave SE all the way to Lake Washington Blvd North back to Renton Memorial Stadium.
Let's meet at the Renton Memorial Stadium at 9:00am to get your bike & rider ready for our pre-ride safety briefing at 9:20am, with a departure at 9:30am sharp.
There are about 5 hills along the way. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to stay together/regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are NOT available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water/lunch as follows:
Mile 6.4 Rest Stop #1: Seward Park
Mile 17.7 Rest Stop #2: Gas Works Park
Mile 29.9 Rest Stop #3: Log Boom Park. 30 min for lunch break
Mile 38 Rest Stop #4: Kirkland Marina Park.
Optional Mile 38.5: We can ride 2 blocks to Lake St for Starbucks coffee if there is enough interest
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
