Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please click the red "Cancel My Registration" button above so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join us for a ride from Lower Woodland Park on a 21-mile route at a steady pace (12-14 MPH on flats)! We will ride to Mt. Baker Park south of I-90, passing through Interlaken, Volunteer, and Green Lake parks on the way. Fairly continuous hills will give us a good opportunity to practice our climbing and descending at a steady-pace effort.
Let's meet in the parking lot by the restrooms, near Softball Field #6 in Lower Woodland Park at 9:45 a.m. for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10 a.m.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to regroup frequently, at the top of hills and at turns, so no one gets left behind on the twisty parts of this route. This is an opportunity to practice our hill climbing at a steady-pace effort.
Restrooms are available at the start and at Volunteer Park, at the 15-mile point, where we will take a brief break and take in the view of downtown Seattle. Do not count on water being available; bring enough with you to last the whole ride. Do bring a snack, if you'd like, as there is no planned cafe stop on this ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
