Please note: During COVID-19 restrictions, all Free Group Rides are limited in the number of allowed participants. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
We will observe current social distancing guidelines when off the bike, and strive to maintain at least 10-12ft separation between riders when on the bike.
Join me for my 2nd Ride as a Ride Leader for a ride from Enatai Beach Park on a 25 mile route at Steady Pace averaging 12 MPH! My Superbowl Morning Ride!
Starting at Enatai Beach Park in South Bellevue, we will ride South along Lake Washington Trail/Boulevard, to the Renton Airport and back North on the Seattle Side. Then Across Mercer Island to the East Channel Bridge, and return to Enatai. Depending on the Feeling of the Group, we may consider a Coffee Stop at Cafe Vita in the Lakewood Neighborhood, about 12 miles into the Ride.
There will be hills. I counted 20 Inclines/Steady Ascents and some Moderate Climbs on this route last weekend. We will also go through parts of 5 Cities (if you include Newcastle in that list). Anticipate Ride Duration of about 2.5 hours, given that I am still working on getting better on Hills. Nearly Obligatory "Flat Tire" may add some time to that. Hopefully, will get back to Enatai by or before 2:00, and you can get home to Watch the Super Bowl!
Let's meet at the Enatai Beach Park at 10:45 for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 11:00.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and our goal will be to Regroup Frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms ARE available at the start, however there is a lot of Construction going on at Enatai, so you may have to walk through the Grassy Area. RR were Open as of last Saturday. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 7 at Gene Coulon Park. (OPTIONAL) We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Cafe Vita at mile 12.5 (Approximately). If the Group prefers Rest Rooms, we can "detour" off the Posted Route to Seward Park.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please DO be mindful of the Weather Forecast. I will be checking Periodically on Saturday and Sunday a.m., and if Steady Rain, will cancel within the Appropriate Time Window.
We hope you can join us!
