Free Group Ride
LUMPs: Matthews Beach Seattle - North End to Wilmot Gateway Park
Event has already happened.
We will ride north on the Burke-Gilman Trail passing Log Boom Park and Blyth Park. Then on to Woodinville to Wilmot Gateway Park. We will take a break at Wilmot for about 15 minutes, use the restrooms, if needed, and return to Matthews Beach. Bring a snack if needed. The terrain is flat. The pace is steady at 12 to 14 mph. Helmets and a functioning bicycle are required. No cue sheets provided. Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Arrive early to beat the sea gulls for a good parking spot.
Register - Please note: During COVID-19 Phases 1.5 and 2, all Free Group Rides are limited to six total participants: the Ride Leader and five others. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot(s) will be made available to another.
For Covid-19 - Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.The club has issued new guidelines related to COVID-19 at the link above. Please do not plan to ride if you have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or other cold or flu-like symptoms, or have other risk factors.There is water at the start and some opportunities for lavatory facilities & hand washing on the route.
Route: Come and enjoy this social bike ride along the Burke Gilman Trail to look at the captivating scenery. The lake views are pretty special, especially on a clear day.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry.
Ride start: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the liability waiver and hear the safety briefing. Water and restrooms are available. No cue sheets will be provided and be prepared if you have a mechanical problem, e.g. a flat tire.
Cue sheets - None, stay together ride.
Weather cancellation: - Showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride. Ice, frost/snow or sub-freezing temperatures that make driving to the start unwise or hazardous also will cancel. If the weather looks iffy, check here before leaving for the ride. Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section at least two hours before start time and the ride leader(s) will not be at the start.
